From September 8 to 16, 2025, Professor Marlene Harter visited the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and COMSATS University in Pakistan as part of the project “Agricultural Soil Monitoring with Ground Penetrating Radar and Artificial Intelligence” (AGRARIAN), funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The project is a research cooperation between Offenburg University of Applied Sciences (HSO) and LUMS, focusing on the development of sustainable solutions in agricultural science. At its core is the analysis of farmland soils using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), complemented by additional instruments such as pH sensors and surface analysis techniques. By combining these methods with artificial intelligence (AI), the project aims to develop new approaches for precision agriculture and environmentally responsible, demand-driven fertilization.

During her stay, a workshop was held at LUMS where the project’s scientific approaches were presented and discussed. The visit to COMSATS University also provided an opportunity to deepen academic exchange and explore perspectives for future collaborations.

Professor Harter’s visit contributed to strengthening the cooperation between Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and the Pakistani partner universities. In addition to intensive academic exchange, the trip also offered valuable insights into the country, its culture, and the warm hospitality experienced on site.
