As part of the project-related exchange program with India DST 2023-2025 funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), two guest scientists from the Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam) will visit Offenburg University. During their stay Dr. Ragesh G K and Dr. Ansal K A will be with Institute for Unmanned Aerial Systems and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Medical Engineering and Computer Science.

We would like to invite you to the two guest lectures "The Digital Trinity: IoT, 5G, and CPS - A Journey into Convergence" from Dr. Ragesh G K and "Planar Antennas for 5G and beyond" given by Dr. Ansal K A, on Tuesday, 23rd April at 2 p.m. in room B014. Afterwards we invite you to a Get-Together in the entrance hall of the B-Building. We are looking forward to your participation.

The Digital Trinity: IoT, 5G, and CPS - A Journey into Convergence

The intersection of Internet of Things (IoT), 5G networks, and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) heralds a new era of connectivity, intelligence, and automation. This talk delves into the technical underpinnings of this convergence, exploring how IoT devices leverage 5G's low latency and high bandwidth capabilities to communicate seamlessly, facilitating real-time data exchange and analysis within CPS frameworks. We'll discuss the critical role of edge computing in processing data at the source, enhancing efficiency and reducing latency. Additionally, we'll explore the implications of this convergence across various sectors, from smart cities and autonomous vehicles to industrial automation and healthcare.

Planar Antennas for 5G and beyond

Planar antennas are crucial components in the development and implementation of 5G networks. They offer several advantages such as compact size, ease of integration with other components, and the ability to achieve high performance in terms of gain, efficiency, and bandwidth. This lecturer deals with overview of planar antennas commonly used in 5G applications like patch antennas, reconfigurable antennas, MIMO antennas etc. The importance of planar antennas for 5G and beyond lies in their ability to address the increasingly complex requirements of future wireless communication systems, including higher data rates, lower latency, improved spectral efficiency, and support for massive connectivity. Planar antennas enable the development of compact, high-performance, and cost-effective solutions that are essential for realizing the full potential of next-generation wireless networks and emerging applications such as IoT, autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and smart cities. Overall, planar antenna technology continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of wireless communication systems, driving innovations that enable higher data rates, improved coverage, and enhanced user experiences.
