Schiller in Space

Cooperation with the Schiller-Gymnasium-School

Since February 2012, a team of school teachers from the Schiller-Gymnasium Offenburg has been working together with IUAS on the interdisciplinary project "Schiller in Space".

The aim of this project is to develop the programming and metrological equipment of unmanned light vehicles for weather data as well as aerosol and trace gas measurements in the tropo- and stratosphere.

The measuring equipment developed by students is carried into the upper stratosphere by means of a weather balloon. So far, many successful flights up to 33,000 m altitude have been carried out, bringing back to Earth a large number of climate-relevant data and film recordings.

The project will continue in the future.
